How you choose members you wish to meet
Personal profiles
From long experience, they have found the best way of finding out about other members is
by exchanging what are called 'Personal Profiles'. When you join Dateline
one to one, they compile
your personal profile. It is important you are happy with your own profile, in particular
that it is a fair reflection of your interests and personality - an interesting profile
always promotes a good response. You can discuss your profile with
Dateline one to one and amend
it as appropriate at any time. It is also worth noting that although there is considerable
detail in these profiles, members always ensure they remain anonymous. Profiles are made
available to you in three ways:

- Printed Paper Profiles - exchanged for you by

- Audio Recordings of Members' Profiles (recorded by actors or actresses) which you can
listen to by dialling a special telephone number.

Search Page. Members have the additional option here of displaying a photograph if
they so wish - but only other members can access these photographs.
"Selecting" people you would like to meet
There are many options available to you and there is no limit to the
number of people you can request to meet. We suggest you try all methods of selection and
pick the method or combination you are most comfortable with. The methods of choice open
to you are as follows:
- You can look through the

as a host of interesting articles and details of upcoming events, contains a list of every
member in your area. With thousands of members, the choice is vast! Once you have drawn up
your shortlist you can access a full Personal Profile either from the Audio Profile
Telephone Line or by using the 'view profile by membership number' facility on the
Partner
Search Page, or by speaking to one of the Customer Care Representatives on the
Members' Hotline.
- You can use
Dateline one to one Connect (automated telephone system). By dialling just one
simple telephone number, you will have at your fingertips an easy to use method for...
- Listening to the Audio Profiles of any members you choose.
- Listening to the Personal Recordings of members (their own description in their own
voice) and responding to them when they sound interesting. These are less formal than
Audio Profiles - in most cases compulsive listening - and usually invite a response.
Recording or responding to Personal Recordings is again the choice of each member.
- Sending your own profile and/or message(s) to other members who interest you. On
occasions this can result in you speaking to the other member within minutes of their
receiving your message.
- Requesting an exchange of Paper Profiles with your selected member(s) - these are
dispatched directly by post.
- Exchanging confidential messages with members you have made contact with, i.e. using the
voicemail facilities like a sophisticated and secure answer phone.
- You can use the

Search Page on the website. This not only allows you to see all of the members in your
area (using the postcode and radius facility), but also provides you with a powerful
search engine, which gives you the facility to access any of the thousands of profiles in
the
Dateline one to one database according to your own criteria. You choose how you want to search
and what you want to search for.
- You can telephone the Members' Hotline. Despite the most advanced computer and telephone
systems, we know the human touch remains vitally important. This is why there is a special
Members' Hotline number.
Dateline one to one Customer Care Representatives are all very
experienced and specially trained and will be delighted to speak with you. They are
available seven days a week. The Customer Care Team can discuss which members you might
like to meet and the best way of accessing their full profiles.
Exchanging telephone numbers
When members receive each others' profiles they must respond by
registering 'yes' or 'no' (i.e. "yes, I would like to meet this person" or
"no, I would not"). The responses can be registered either by ringing the
Customer Care Representatives, by ringing the automated telephone facility or through the
members' section of the website.
Responding via the automated system
When two members receive each others profiles and both register a
"yes" the
Dateline one to one Connect system automatically alerts each member to tell
them they have a message in their
Dateline one to one voicemail box. They then access their
message which advises them of the "yes" and gives each the others' phone number.
Social events and activities
A very good way to meet other members and have a lot of fun into the
bargain is to attend one of the events.
Dateline one to one are constantly coming up with new
ideas for events as well as listening to members' suggestions. For example there are white
water rafting days, sherry tasting visits, treasure hunts, dinner evenings, and many other
interesting events.
The Age Spectrum
Dateline one to one has members from around the mid-twenties into the seventies and even beyond.
Broadly speaking, membership follows the national demographic pattern of single people
both in geographic and age distribution. The demographics show that in the more mature age
